Welcome to the Journal Guide

If you are a researcher from Lancaster University you can search for your favourite journals or filter to get to a selection of journals that match your research topic. Select a funder to see whether the journals are compliant. Check the filter ‘Journals with Agreements’ to limit the list to journals for which the APCs are fully waived (i.e. included in our Read and Publish agreements) or discounted. If a cost is shown then click ‘Check & Apply’ to see if the Open Access team can cover costs.

European Physical Journal - Special Topics

ISSN: 1951-6355eISSN: 1951-6401

To submit a formal proposal for EPJ ST (edited volumes) Please propose a sufficiently specific title, give names and affiliations of all volume editors and provide a short rationale for putting such a special issue together.
Please submit a list (even if partially tentative), giving the abstracts of the contributions, as well as names and affiliations of the contributing authors and (important) the article type for each contribution, see below:

Article types:

a) Minireview: A typically 10-15 pages contribution, where approximately half of the material is in form of representative mini-review of the entire subtopic/subfield, followed by, approximately of the same length, a short review of own past and present work, coherently summarized and explained in the broader context of the first part.

b) Tutorial Review: A 15+ pages tutorial review (lecture) on a broader topic that adds significantly more introductory and background material to make this reasonably self-contained reading f

The aims of this peer-reviewed online journal are to distribute and archive all relevant material required to document, assess, validate and reconstruct in detail the body of knowledge in the physical and related sciences. The scope of EPJ Plus encompasses a broad landscape of fields and disciplines in the physical and related sciences - such as covered by the topical EPJ journals and with the explicit addition of geophysics, astrophysics, general relativity and cosmology, mathematical and quantum physics, classical and fluid mechanics, as well as physics techniques applied to any other topics, including energy, environment and cultural heritage. The journal will be a new forum for: 1. the setting and improvement of standards, procedures and performance in: - experimental and observational physics: techniques and instruments, including laboratory protocols and similar best practice studies in scientific data acquisition, analysis, transmission and processing: - computational physics: numerical techniques and simulations, including technical performance studies and similar benchmark calculations: - theoretical physics: development and refinement of relevant mathematical toolsand techniques: 2. the progress, verification and documentation of research through: - important and substantial additional details and insights on existing work: - original research, by theoretical, experimental or numerical means, on specific or technical issues, in particular critical assessment of existing work: - relevant and independent theoretical, computational or experimental supportand validation of previously published results. To facilitate such aims and scope: - papers will be refereed regarding the quality and thoroughness of presentation as well as the clarity and soundness of details and arguments. - the journal explicitly encourages the submission of additional mate, rial that can be published as electronic supplementary material to accepted articles. European Planning Studies

ISSN: 0965-4313eISSN: 1469-5944

Click here to view a list of the latest free articles available from European Planning Studies. European Planning Studies provides a forum for ideas and information about spatial development processes and policies in Europe. The journal publishes articles of a theoretical, empirical and policy-relevant nature and is particularly concerned to integrate knowledge of processes with practical policy proposals, implementation and evaluation. Articles of particular interest to the journal focus upon specific spatial development problems, as well as emerging explanations of new urban, regional, national or supranational developmental tendencies. Country-specific, region-specific or locality-specific issues are focused upon, although comparative analysis is of especial value. Case studies of successful spatial policies and critiques of policy failure based on in-depth study are both welcomed. A key feature of the journal is to generalize learning about best practice analysis and policy-formulation in the field of spatial development planning. Additionally, European Planning Studies features articles which focus on the functional dimensions of planning, such as infrastructure, communications, environmental quality, design, cultural, social welfare, recreational, housing, industrial and employment concerns of planning at whatever spatial scale. Articles which are concerned with these questions in an appropriate spatial context, given the scope of the journal, are of special interest. The journal also carries European Briefing, Research Briefing and Book Reviews sections. European Planning Studies is published in cooperation with the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP), an independent body of professional planning educators with a membership of over 100 planning schools throughout Western and Eastern Europe. Peer Review Statement All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by two referees. European Political Science

ISSN: 1680-4333eISSN: 1682-0983

European Political Science (EPS) is an international journal devoted to publishing contributions by and for the political science community. Its interpretation of 'political science' is wide and encompasses comparative politics, political economy, international relations, public administration, political theory, European studies and related disciplines. It publishes pieces on how the discipline is, can be and ought to be. Articles address research matters (including debates in the discipline, research projects, political science information sources, funding opportunities); professional matters (such as career structures and prospects, external evaluation, higher education reforms, accreditation issues); doctoral training provision and teaching matters; and relations between academia and politicians, policy-makers, journalists and ordinary citizens. EPS also includes more substantive pieces that provide a political science perspective on important current events. In addition to original articles, the journal carries shorter notes, review articles and symposia, progress reports on lively areas of research and profiles of people in the profession.

European Psychologist

ISSN: 1016-9040eISSN: 1878-531X

The European Psychologist is a direct source of information regarding both applied and research psychology throughout Europe; provides both reviews of specific fields and original papers of seminal importance; integrates across subfields and provides easy access to essential state-of-the-art information in all areas within psychology; provides a European perspective on many dimensions of new work being done elsewhere in psychology; makes European psychology visible globally; promotes scientific and professional cooperation among European psychologists; develops the mutual contribution of psychological theory and practice. The European Psychologist, the English language voice of psychology in Europe, seeks to integrate across all specializations in psychology and to provide a general platform for communication and cooperation among psychologists throughout Europe and worldwide. The Journal accepts four kinds of contribution: 1. Original articles (peer reviewed) form an essential section of the journal. Not necessarily focused on European aspects, these present important new findings and ideas, and are written for a non- specialist, general readership in psychology. 2. Contemporary reviews (peer reviewed) provide carefully written state-of-the art papers on trends and developments within psychology, with possible reference to European perceptions or fields of specialization. 3. Reports inform readers about the work of major research and on psychology-related activities of European institutions and on scientific trends in member countries. Articles on legal and regulatory developments and on trends within respective fields and the political realm that will impact on any aspect of psychology may also be included here. These contributions can be presented in a lively manner, and may involve such formats as discussions, interviews, debates, or conventional articles. 4. News and announcements: The Journal will act as a central source of information on important legal, regulatory, ethical, and administrative events of interest to psychologists working throughout Europe. Such items include: Reports on major congresses, Calendar of forthcoming meetings, Information on key symposia and seminars, European funding information about major projects, Current data on academic and other major vacancies. Book reviews will also be published from time to time.
