Welcome to the Journal Guide

If you are a researcher from Lancaster University you can search for your favourite journals or filter to get to a selection of journals that match your research topic. Select a funder to see whether the journals are compliant. Check the filter ‘Journals with Agreements’ to limit the list to journals for which the APCs are fully waived (i.e. included in our Read and Publish agreements) or discounted. If a cost is shown then click ‘Check & Apply’ to see if the Open Access team can cover costs.

Biological Psychiatry: Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging

eISSN: 2451-9022

Biological Psychiatry: Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging is an official journal of the Society for Biological Psychiatry, whose purpose is to promote excellence in scientific research and education in fields that investigate the nature, causes, mechanisms, and treatments of disorders of thought, emotion, or behavior. In accord with this mission, this peer-reviewed, rapid-publication, international journal focuses on studies using the tools and constructs of cognitive neuroscience, including the full range of non-invasive neuroimaging and human extra- and intracranial physiological recording methodologies. It publishes both basic and clinical studies, including those that incorporate genetic data, pharmacological challenges, and computational modeling approaches. The journal publishes novel results of original research which represent an important new lead or significant impact on the field. Reviews and commentaries that focus on topics of current research and interest are also encouraged.

Biological Psychology

ISSN: 0301-0511eISSN: 1873-6246

Biological Psychology publishes original scientific papers on neural, endocrine, immune, and other physiological aspects of psychological states and processes. Such aspects include assessments by biochemistry, electrophysiology, and neuroimaging during psychological experiments as well as biologically induced changes in psychological function. Psychological investigations based on biological theories are also of interest. All aspects of psychological functioning, including psychopathology, are germane.

The Journal is focused on work with human individuals, but may consider work with animals, if conceptually related to issues in human biological psychology. The Journal welcomes work that spans disciplines and methods and recruits an editorial team that is especially suited for handling such manuscripts. Empirical reports are the core of the Journal, but methodological and theoretical reports relevant to biological psychology are encouraged (see list of article types for more information). Finally, the Journal regularly publishes special issues on selected topics within its scope.

BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH (former title, "Archivos de Biología y Medicina Experimentales") is the official journal of the Chilean Biology Society. This journal, founded in 1964 and renamed in 1992, is a quarterly publication that covers the broad spectrum of experimental biological research.BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH is an open access journal which publishes original articles and invited reviews in the diverse fields of experimental biology such as biochemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, genomics, immunology, marine biology, molecular biology, plant biology, physiology, and systems biology. Upon special requests to the Editor, manuscripts outside of these fields may also be considered for publication, Manuscripts should be presented as full-length papers, short communications, or review articles (invited by the editors). In an attempt to continually improve the impact and competitively of this journal, manuscripts will receive immediate attention upon their arrival. The entire editorial board of Biological Research is committed to processing manuscripts rapidly. Submitted manuscripts will be critically refereed by at least two independent reviewers who are either members of the Editorial Board or ad hoc referees. Reviewers, experts in the area to which the manuscript pertains, will critically analyze the manuscript in a timely manner. Acceptance is based upon scientific content, originality and presentation of the material. Accepted manuscripts will be published within 3 months of their final approval date. The official abbreviation of Biological Research is Biol Res., and it should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips. .

Biological Research For Nursing

ISSN: 1099-8004eISSN: 1552-4175

One of the greatest challenges in nursing today is how to integrate information from many basic disciplines—biology, physiology, chemistry, health policy, business, engineering, education, communication and the social sciences—into nursing research, theory and clinical practice. Biological Research for Nursing is the only publication that helps nurse researchers, educators, and practitioners meet this important challenge by focusing on biological and physiological changes in healthy and unhealthy populations from a nursing perspective.Published quarterly, this essential journal offers original peer-reviewed articles on: * Normal and abnormal biological phenomena, such as pain management and the effects of stress. * Improvements in health care techniques developed through biological and physiological research. * New methods, instruments, and techniques for biological and physiological health research. * Theoretical foundations that increase understanding of biological and physiological changes in health and illness. * Pathophysiology and the biological foundations of nursing practice.Biological Research for Nursing features research papers, empirical and theoretical articles, editorials, abstracts of recent dissertations, and conference summaries that relate to nursing care written by scientists and researchers in nursing and the basic sciences, such as:Pathophysiology* Biochemistry* Medicinal Chemistry* Medical Physics* Microbiology* Cell Biology* Developmental Biology *Genetics* Reproductive Biology* Molecular Biology* Neuroscience* Pharmacology* Infectious Disease* Oncology* Cardiovascular Disease* Pulmonary Function and Disease* Dermatology* Wound Healing* Immunology* Anesthesiology* Endocrinology* Gastroenterology* Hematology* Neonatology* Nephrology* Pathology* Physiology* Nutrition* Pain Management* Anatomy.

Biological Rhythm Research

ISSN: 0929-1016eISSN: 1744-4179

The principal aim of Biological Rhythm Research is to unite in one scientific journal all reports in the field of biological rhythm research which in the past were scattered over many scientific journals covering a great number of different disciplines. By bringing these papers together the Editorial Board stimulates interdisciplinary rhythm research not only because of the similarity of the methods applied in different fields of research, but also because of the increasing conviction of many scientists that, apart from the direct mechanisms involved in various rhythmic phenomena, many of these may be subjected to common extraneous controlling or masking influences. The Journal publishes original scientific research papers, review papers, short notes on research in progress, book reviews, summaries of activities, symposia and congresses of national and international organizations dealing with rhythmic phenomena. --- Disclaimer for Scientific, Technical and Social Science Publications Taylor & Francis make every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information (the 'Content') contained in its publications. Biology & Philosophy

ISSN: 0169-3867eISSN: 1572-8404

Recent decades have witnessed fascinating and controversial advances in the biological sciences. This journal answers the need for meta-theoretical analysis, both about the very nature of biology, as well as about its social implications. Biology and Philosophy is aimed at a broad readership, drawn from both the sciences and the humanities. The journal subscribes to no specific school of biology, nor of philosophy, and publishes work from authors of all persuasions and all disciplines. The editorial board reflects this attitude in its composition and its world-wide membership. Each issue of Biology and Philosophy carries one or more discussions or comparative reviews, permitting the in-depth study of important works and topics.
