Welcome to the Journal Guide

If you are a researcher from Lancaster University you can search for your favourite journals or filter to get to a selection of journals that match your research topic. Select a funder to see whether the journals are compliant. Check the filter ‘Journals with Agreements’ to limit the list to journals for which the APCs are fully waived (i.e. included in our Read and Publish agreements) or discounted. If a cost is shown then click ‘Check & Apply’ to see if the Open Access team can cover costs.

Robotics and Autonomous Systems

ISSN: 0921-8890

Robotics and Autonomous Systems will carry articles describing fundamental developments in the field of robotics, with special emphasis on autonomous systems. An important goal of this journal is to extend the state of the art in both symbolic and sensory based robot control and learning in the context of autonomous systems.Robotics and Autonomous Systems will carry articles on the theoretical, computational and experimental aspects of autonomous systems, or modules of such systems.Application environments of interest include industrial, outdoor and outer space where advanced robotic techniques are required for autonomous systems to accomplish goals without human intervention; this includes robotics for hazardous and hostile environments.Robotics and Autonomous Systems will carry brief reports on international meetings in the field, as well as an occasional multi-author debate on current topics of interest. Forthcoming meetings of importance will be listed. In more detail, the journal will cover the following topics:• Symbol mediated robot behavior control;• Sensory mediated robot behavior control;• Active sensory processing and control;• Industrial applications of autonomous systems;• Sensor modeling and data interpretation e.g. models and software for sensor data integration, 3D scene analysis, environment description and modeling, pattern recognition;• Robust techniques in AI and sensing e.g. uncertainty modeling, graceful degradation of systems;• Robot programming e.g. on-line and off-line programming, discrete event dynamical systems, fuzzy logic;• CAD-based robotics e.g. CAD-based vision, reverse engineering;• Robot simulation and visualization tools;• Tele-autonomous systems;• Micro electromechanical robots;• Robot control architectures;• Robot planning, adaptation and learning.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing

ISSN: 0736-5845eISSN: 1879-2537
The emphasis of the journal Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing is on disseminating the application of research to the development of new or improved industrially-relevant manufacturing technologies, equipment, and strategies. Preference is given to papers describing research whose initial feasibility has been demonstrated either in a real manufacturing enterprise or experimentally in a laboratory. Case-studies describing technology transfer and deployment from research institutions to industry or the implementation and scale-up of new technologies in industry, as well as review papers on topical issues in manufacturing, are equally encouraged.

Original papers are welcomed in the areas of rapid-response manufacturing, global manufacturing, flexible automation, mechatronics, computer-controlled machinery and processes, micromechanical systems, green manufacturing, biotech manufacturing, photonics manufacturing, nano manufacturing, robotics, rapid prototyping, concurrent engineering, life cycle engineering, CAD/CAM/CAE, integration of IT tools into manufacturing, and other fields involving unique manufacturing techniques.

Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering

ISSN: 0723-2632eISSN: 1434-453X

Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering covers the experimental and theoretical aspects of rock mechanics, including laboratory and field testing, methods of computation and field observation of structural behavior. The journal maintains the strong link between engineering geology and rock engineering, providing a bridge between fundamental developments and practical application. Coverage includes case histories on design and construction of structures in rock such as underground openings, large dam foundations and rock slopes. Fields of interest include rock mechanics in all its varied aspects including laboratory testing, field investigations, computational methods and design principles. The journal also reports on applications in tunneling, rock slopes, large dam foundations, mining, engineering and engineering geology.

Rock Music Studies

ISSN: 1940-1159eISSN: 1940-1167
Published three times a year, Rock Music Studies publishes articles, book and audio reviews, and opinion pieces on rock music and its numerous subgenres.

To best focus this international journal, the editors of Rock Music Studies, which evolved from Popular Music and Society, limit the usually all-inclusive definition of rock to exclude other genres such as doo-wop, country, jazz, soul, and hip hop, but include roll and roll, rockabilly, blues rock, country rock, jazz rock, folk rock, hard rock, psychedelic rock, prog rock, metal, punk, alternative, and other subgenres of rock.

The editors welcome articles on rock's interaction with other styles and are receptive to all disciplinary, methodological, and theoretical approaches.

All research articles will undergo a rigorous peer review process by at least two anonymous referees, based on an initial screening by the editors. The journal is also open to special issues focusing on an artist, a subgenre, or a topic. For more information please see the Authors and Submissions tab. Queries are encouraged via email.

Rocks & Minerals

ISSN: 0035-7529eISSN: 1940-1191

Amateurs as well as professional scientists delight in and pore over Rocks & Minerals, which has published feature articles on mineralogy, geology, and paleontology since 1926. Regular departments explore such topics as minerals for the collector; microminerals; recent books, videos, and DVDs; coming events; museum news; and personalities in the field. Detailed lists of collecting opportunities in specific localities are published periodically, as are special theme issues. Spectacular color photographs appear throughout each issue. Rocks & Minerals works with the Mineralogical Society of America to promote cooperation between collectors and professional mineralogists. The magazine is affiliated with the Friends of Mineralogy as well as the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies and the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies. Publication office: Taylor & Francis, Inc., 325 Chestnut Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
