Progress in Community Health Partnerships: Research, Education, and Action

ISSN: 1557-0541eISSN: 1557-055X

The mission of the Journal is to facilitate dissemination of programs that use community partnerships to improve public health, to promote progress in the methods of research and education involving community health partnerships, and to stimulate action that will improve the health of people in communities. Communities, as defined by the Journal, may be based on geography, shared interests, or social networks. The Journal is dedicated to supporting the work of community health partnerships that involve ongoing collaboration between community representatives and academic or governmental partners. This area of research and evaluation may be referred to as community-based participatory research (CBPR). The W. K. Kellogg Foundation defines CBPR as a collaborative approach to research that equitably involves all partners in the research process and recognizes the unique strengths that each brings. CBPR begins with a research topic of importance to the community and has the aim of combining knowledge with action and achieving social change to improve health outcomes and eliminate health disparities.

Progress in Crystal Growth and Characterization of Materials

ISSN: 0960-8974eISSN: 1878-4208

Crystals lie at the root of much of today's advanced technology. Near-perfect crystals of silicon and III-V compounds are needed for microprocessors and optoelectronics, magnetic crystals provide some computer memories, and crystals of all kinds are required for scientific studies and new applications. This journal is the only review journal which provides a repository of articles and references on the growth and characterization of crystals and their applications. As the years go by it is building up into an invaluable source of information on a wide range of topics.Advances in the techniques of growing and assessing ever more perfect crystals of a wide range of materials lie at the roots of much of today's advanced technology. The literature of crystal growth is expanding faster than almost any comparable field of science. This journal is planned to fill the need for communication and act as a rapid publication medium for review articles and conference reports in order to keep abreast of developments in this field.Crystal growth and characterization (or assessment) is of vital interest to many scientists in industry and in universities. The journal covers all aspects of crystal growth and characterization including crystals of semiconductors and electronic materials, oxides, synthetic materials, magnetic and optical crystals, organic and biological crystals and metals. Topics in eutectics, thin film and theory of crystal growth are included and also methods of assessing crystal perfection and purity. The wide-ranging interdisciplinary nature of Progress in Crystal Growth and Characterization of Materials means that it is of interest to physicists, chemists, materials scientists, electronic engineers and metallurgists as well as specialists in crystal growth. Emphasis on practical developments and problems ensures its importance for workers in industry. This journal carries full review articles, state-of-the-art reports, reviews of important new publications and lists of forthcoming meetings in the field of crystal growth and characterization.Invited Review Papers only.

Progress in Energy and Combustion Science

ISSN: 0360-1285eISSN: 1873-216X

Conservation of energy requires an efficient combustion of fossil fuels, and the protection of the environment demands a limitation of the pollutants emitted from combustion systems. Progress in Energy and Combustion Science contains articles by internationally recognized authors in the fields of combustion, flames, fuel science and technology and energy studies. Each volume contains a number of specially commissioned review articles on a specific topic, which provides the reader with an orderly and concise survey of a particular aspect of combustion and energy. The length of the articles allows authors to discuss their subjects more fully and comprehensively than can be undertaken in papers reporting original work. These review articles provide an opportunity for research workers to become usefully informed in fields other than their own. They are of use to students seeking a review of a particular subject, together with a comprehensive bibliography. Certain volumes are also aimed at engineers working in government and industrial research establishments, seeking practical solutions to problems in the fields of energy and pollution.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Progress in Lipid Research

ISSN: 0163-7827eISSN: 1873-2194

The importance of lipids as one of the fundamental classes of biological compounds is well established. The application of our knowledge of the biochemistry, chemistry and physiology of lipids to biotechnology, the fats and oils industry and medicine have continued to expand apace. In addition new dimensions such as lipid biophysics, especially with relevance to membranes and lipoproteins, and basic liposome research and applications have been added. To cope with all these advances in knowledge a journal is needed to review recent progress in particular fields and to set current research against its historical background. Progress in Lipid Research fulfils this role. Each volume contains up-to-date surveys of special aspects of lipid research. The invited reviews are comprehensive enough to provide sufficient overview but concentrate on reporting and critically appraising the most recent data. Subjects are chosen for their timeliness or because major developments have taken place in the last few years. They include methodological reviews as well as chemical, biochemical and medical articles. All lipid compounds and derivatives are covered, ranging from fatty acids and other simple molecules, through steroids, terpenoids and phospho- or glycolipids to complex structures such as lipoproteins and biological membranes. We hope that those whose main interest is in lipid biophysics and liposome research will join as new readers, benefiting from the journal's classical aspects of lipid metabolism, lipids in signal transduction and lipid enzymology, and that current readers will benefit from the exposure to top quality research on the new aspects.Prospective authors of reviews should send a presubmission enquiry with key references to one of the Editors.

Progress in Materials Science

ISSN: 0079-6425eISSN: 1873-2208
Progress in Materials Science publishes authoritative and critical reviews of recent advances in the science of materials and their exploitation in engineering and other applications. Emphasis is placed on the fundamental aspects of the subject, particularly those concerning microstructure and nanostructure and their relationship to properties (mechanical, chemical, electrical, magnetic, optical or biomedical) including the atomistic and electronic nature of condensed phases. Also desirable subject matters are the thermodynamics, kinetics, mechanisms and modelling of processes which occur within solids, liquids and other condensed phases; experiments and models which help in understanding the macroscopic properties of materials in terms of microscopic mechanisms; and work which advances the understanding of the use of materials in engineering, healthcare and other applications. Materials of interest are metallic, ceramic, polymeric, biological, medical and composite in all forms. Manuscripts are generally of greater length than those found in journals specialising in research papers.

Contributors may be invited or interested authors may contact one of the http://www.journals.elsevier.com/progress-in-materials-science/editorial-board/Editors with a suggested review topic and an outline for consideration.
