Physiological Reports is an online, open access monthly journal that publishes peer-reviewed research across all areas of basic and translational physiology and allied disciplines. Case reports are acceptable, so long as they have a physiological focus, but Physiological Reports does not publish clinical trials. For further information, see the journal's full scope statement.
The journal publishes articles on normal and pathological physiology, biochemistry, biophysics, and pharmacology.Authors can submit original, previously unpublished research articles, review articles, rapid or short communications.Check our instructions in the Instructions for Authors before submitting a manuscript.Instructions for authors - Respect the instructions carefully when submitting your manuscript. Submitted manuscripts or revised manuscripts that do not follow these Instructions will not be included into the peer-review process. The articles are available in full versions as pdf files (beginning with volume 49, 2000). The journal publishes the online Pre-Press version of the articles that are searchable in Medlineand and can be cited.
Physiological Reviews provides state of the art coverage of timely issues in the physiological and biomedical sciences. It appeals to physiologists, neuroscientists, cell biologists, biophysicists, and clinicians with special interest in pathophysiology. Topics are covered in a broad and comprehensive manner. These articles are very useful in teaching and research as they provide interesting, clearly written updates on important new developments.
Physiological and Molecular Plant Pathology provides an International forum for original research papers, reviews, and commentaries on all aspects of the molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, ultrastructure, genetics and evolution of plant-microbe interactions.Papers on all kinds of infective pathogen, including viruses, prokaryotes, fungi, and nematodes, as well as mutualistic organisms such as Rhizobium and mycorrhyzal fungi, are acceptable as long as they have a bearing on the interaction between microbe and plant.Research Areas Include:• Applications of mutagenesis and recombinant DNA technology to the elucidation of processes involved in host-parasite interactions• Genetics of pathogenicity• Genetical basis of host recognition• Molecular basis of recognition; receptors and exogenous and endogenous elicitors• Plasmids and infection processes; tumorigenesis• Structure/activity relationships of toxins, sites of action• Growth regulators and metabolic regulation• Molecular biology of enzyme systems involved in infection processes• Cell wall modifications and resistance to infection• Molecular biology of phytoalexins and other secondary metabolites of the host and their roles in resistance• Predisposition and induced susceptibility• Transport of organic and inorganic nutrients in the infected plant; source-sink relationships
Physiology publishes invited review articles written by leaders in their fields. These articles are peer reviewed and highlight major advances in the broadly defined field of physiology. The journal also publishes shorter articles that either present important emerging topics and technologies or differing points of view. Finally, the journal highlights and briefly summarizes some of the most exciting new papers in physiology. With a new format that is both exciting and attractive, the journal is a valuable tool for researchers, educators, and students.
Physiology & Behavior is aimed at the causal physiological mechanisms of behavior and its modulation by environmental factors. The journal invites original reports in the broad area of behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, in which at least one variable is physiological and the primary emphasis and theoretical context are behavioral. The range of subjects includes behavioral neuroendocrinology, psychoneuroimmunology, learning and memory, ingestion, social behavior, and studies related to the mechanisms of psychopathology. Contemporary reviews and theoretical articles are welcomed and the Editors invite such proposals from interested authors.Thematic issues and more comprehensive studies are also considered for publication, subject to the same review standards and process. Articles will be published in English.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
