Optical and Quantum Electronics provides an international forum for the publication of original research papers, tutorial reviews and letters in such fields as optical physics, optical engineering and optoelectronics. The journal publishes papers on the following topics: semiconductors, solid state and gas lasers, optical communication systems, fibres and planar waveguides, non-linear optics, optoelectronic devices, ultra-fast phenomena, optical storage, optical materials, photonic switching, optics in computers and coherent optics. Special issues are published on topics of current interest.

Optics Communications considers only original and timely contributions containing new results in various fields of modern optics. Manuscripts may discuss fundamental or applied issues, and should offer clear evidence of novelty and significance. Papers devoted, for the most part, to mathematical and computational issues, with limited direct connection to current trends of optics research, are generally not suitable for publication in the Journal. Similarly, small technical advances, or papers concerned only with engineering applications or issues of materials science may not be considered favourably.The Fast Track section of Optics Communications is the venue for very rapid publication of short communications on significant developments in the various fields of modern optics. Optimal Control Applications & Methods provides a forum for papers on the full range of optimal and optimization based control theory and related control design methods. The aim is to encourage new developments in control theory and design methodologies that will lead to real advances in control applications. Papers are also encouraged on the development, comparison and testing of computational algorithms for solving optimal control and optimization problems. The scope also includes papers on optimal estimation and filtering methods which have control related applications. Finally, it will provide a focus for interesting optimal control design studies and report real applications experience covering problems in implementation and robustness. The subject involves the optimization of systems described by differential or difference equations and even covers hybrid systems and non-linear programming and optimization methods. Optimization Letters covers all aspects of optimization, including theory, algorithms, computational studies, and applications.
