Neuropsychoanalysis

ISSN: 1529-4145eISSN: 2044-3978
Neuropsychoanalysis publishes papers at the intersection of psychoanalysis and the neurosciences. Our journal was founded on the assumption that these two historically divided disciplines are ultimately pursuing the same task, namely, 'attempt[ing] to make the complications of mental functioning intelligible by dissecting the function and assigning its different constituents to different component parts of the [mental] apparatus' (Freud, 1900a, p. 536).  Although the fields have approached this task from radically different perspectives, the underlying commonalities have become increasingly evident as neuroscientists have begun to investigate those 'complications of mental functioning' that were traditionally the preserve of psychoanalysts, such as emotion, unconscious cognition, and interpersonal processes. Neuropsychoanalysis provides an arena for integrating the explosion of neuroscientific insights into existing psychoanalytic theories and models, and for enriching behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, neurology, neuropsychology and related fields with the dynamic perspectives of psychoanalytic thought and practice.

We welcome experimental, clinical or theoretical papers that take into account both mind and brain.  More specifically, papers that emphasize the integration of the dynamic, intrapsychic or interpersonal world of subjectivity and mental life, either conscious or unconscious, on the one hand, and the objective measurements or manipulations of brain structure or function, on the other hand, are invited.  Submissions are subject to double-blind peer review before they are accepted for publication.  In addition, target papers on selected topics are solicited from leading researchers, and published together with invited commentaries from both psychoanalytic and neuroscientific peers.

Neuropsychologia

ISSN: 0028-3932eISSN: 1873-3514

Neuropsychologia is an international interdisciplinary journal devoted to experimental and theoretical contributions that advance understanding of human cognition and behavior from a neuroscience perspective. The journal will consider for publication studies that link brain function with cognitive processes, including attention and awareness, action and motor control, executive functions and cognitive control, memory, language, and emotion and social cognition.Neuropsychologia has a long history of publishing lesion-deficit studies, and these remain highly appropriate for the journal. Submission of papers describing the use of other methodologies – most notably functional and structural neuroimaging, cognitive electrophysiology, and transcranial magnetic stimulation - is strongly encouraged, however. Animal studies are also welcome, provided they have a direct and explicitly specified impact on understanding human cognition and behavior. Studies of clinical populations that are primarily descriptive or intended to elucidate a clinical disorder, or that evaluate a therapeutic intervention, are not appropriate for the journal. Special issues and Review Papers are published regularly with the aim of providing authoritative surveys of topics of major interest.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Neuropsychological Rehabilitation

ISSN: 0960-2011eISSN: 1464-0694

Neuropsychological Rehabilitation publishes human experimental and clinical research related to rehabilitation, recovery of function, and brain plasticity. The journal is aimed at clinicians who wish to inform their practice in the light of the latest scientific research; at researchers in neurorehabilitation; and finally at researchers in cognitive neuroscience and related fields interested in the mechanisms of recovery and rehabilitation. Papers on neuropsychological assessment will be considered, and special topic reviews (2500-5000 words) addressing specific key questions in rehabilitation, recovery and brain plasticity will also be welcomed. The latter will enter a fast-track refereeing process.Peer Review IntegrityAll published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees.Special IssuesIssues devoted to a single topic are regularly published in this journal; these are sent free to subscribers in that year, and are also available to purchase separately as books for non-subscribers. Neuropsychology

ISSN: 0894-4105eISSN: 1931-1559

Neuropsychology publishes primarily original, empirical research on the relation between brain and human cognitive, emotional, and behavioral function. Sought are submissions of experimental, cognitive, behavioral, and neuroimaging research with implications for neuropsychological theory, research, and practice.Articles that increase understanding of neuropsychological functions in both normal and disordered states and across the lifespan are encouraged. Neuropsychology focuses on basic research as well as on applied, clinical research that will stimulate systematic experimental, cognitive, and behavioral investigations as well as improve the effectiveness, range, and depth of clinical practice. Theoretical reviews, meta-analyses, and case reports with heuristic value are also published.

Neuropsychology Review

ISSN: 1040-7308eISSN: 1573-6660

Neuropsychology Review is devoted to integrative review papers in all aspects of neuroscience contributing to a mechanistic understanding of human neuropsychology in normal and clinical populations.

The journal's broad perspective is supported by an outstanding, multidisciplinary editorial board. The journal aims to publish scholarly articles that summarize and synthesize strengths and weaknesses in the literature and propose novel hypotheses, models, methods of analysis and links to other fields. Publication of new data is not the purview of the journal

didactics on application of new methods and technologies to enable clinical and translational research, and

critical, objective review of specific topics in neuropsychology

Its refereed articles, written by international specialists, discuss complex issues, including:

distinctive cognitive, sensory, and motor component processes affected by en

Neuroradiology

ISSN: 0028-3940eISSN: 1432-1920

The journal Neuroradiology publishes papers on neuroradiological diagnosis and treatment, the application of basic sciences to both, and the use of apparatus. Also presented is important information on normal neuroanatomy and those aspects of neurophysiology that affect radiology in its widest sense. The journal offers papers that give critical guidance on choosing techniques as well as those that describe new advances. CT is now of prime importance. Many older methods are still appropriate. Ultrasound, positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are of growing significance. From time to time, the journal presents comprehensive review articles, invited or offered that are more purely didactic. Case reports describe examples of rarity or practical instructional content, as do single page case notes.

Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews

ISSN: 0149-7634eISSN: 1873-7528

The journal publishes review articles which are original and significant and deal with all aspects of neuroscience, where the relationship to the study of psychological processes and behavior is clearly established. Conversely, the journal will also publish articles whose primary focus deals with psychological processes and behavior, and which have relevance to one or more aspects of neuroscience.Submissions to the journal are actively encouraged which deal with topics not only in the more traditional areas, but also in the following areas, whenever the reviews bring new insights into brain-behavior relations:• Neuropsychology• Cognitive neuroscience• Brain imaging• In vivo monitoring of the brain's electrical and biochemical activities• Molecular biology• Genetics• NeurocomputationTheoretical articles and mini-reviews, for which the scope and literature coverage are more restricted, will also be published. We do not publish empirical papers. We welcome review articles from clinical researchers whose submission exceeds the high quality threshold for the journal and significantly advances our understanding of a field.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
