Welcome to the Journal Guide

If you are a researcher from Lancaster University you can search for your favourite journals or filter to get to a selection of journals that match your research topic. Select a funder to see whether the journals are compliant. Check the filter ‘Journals with Agreements’ to limit the list to journals for which the APCs are fully waived (i.e. included in our Read and Publish agreements) or discounted. If a cost is shown then click ‘Check & Apply’ to see if the Open Access team can cover costs.

Letters in Biomathematics

ISSN: 2373-7867eISSN: 2373-7867
DOAJ Logo
Letters in Biomathematics seeks high quality manuscripts that describe mathematical and statistical techniques to solve problems in biological settings or that address the study of the teaching and learning at the intersection of mathematics and biology. Manuscripts that describe novel approaches in biomathematics or biomathematics pedagogy will be considered along with well-established approaches. Accepted papers show a strong level of interdisciplinary content and clear exposition. Articles must be of interest to and understandable by a wide spectrum of scientists from related fields. Manuscripts reporting preliminary results will be considered.

Letters in Biomathematics welcomes Research, Education and Review articles.

Biomathematics Research
This section publishes high quality articles of novel, as well as established, mathematical and statistical approaches to biological hypotheses. Manuscripts should employ an interdisciplinary approach and should be of interest to a wide spectrum of scientists from related fields. Research from all sub-disciplines within the life sciences and sub-disciplines within mathematics and statistics will be considered.

Biomathematics Education
This section publishes high quality articles on the study of teaching and learning at the intersection of mathematics and biology. Manuscripts that address topics in undergraduate biomathematics education, including those that describe novel methods of design and implementation of innovative pedagogies, curricula, use of technology, and mechanisms of mentoring research are welcome. Manuscripts should contain either significant data and analysis to support the narrative or introduce novel tools or approaches for presentation of content.   Also welcome are studies with a focus on improving the learning and motivation of biology students in mathematics and mathematics students in biology.

Biomathematics Review
This section will publish high quality review articles that describe particular areas of mathematical biology research or education in novel ways. Review manuscripts should consist of a critical and constructive analysis of the literature in a specific field with the intent of helping to organize and evaluate the existing literature and provide insight into how recent literature is reshaping research in the area. It is also appropriate to include mention of software or instrumentation that is relevant to current research.

Letters in Biomathematics: an Open Access Journal
Each article published in Letters in Biomathematics is published Open Access, which means that, upon payment of an article publishing charge (APC), the article is freely and permanently available on Taylor & Francis Group's online platform http://www.tandfonline.com/.  There is no additional subscription fee, article pay-to-view fee or any other form of access fee; and no publication embargo is applied.

More information about Taylor & Francis Open and Routledge Open.

To cover the cost of Open Access publishing, Letters in Biomathematics charges an article publishing charge (APC) for all accepted articles. There is no submission charge. The publication fee for Letters in Biomathematics is $700.

Peer Review

All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is single blind and submissions can be made online at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tlib

Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences

ISSN: 1864-4031eISSN: 1864-404X

Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences (LSRS) publishes high-quality, shorter papers on new theoretical or empirical results, models and methods in social sciences that contain a spatial dimension. It especially solicits manuscripts from regional science, regional and urban economics, geography, environmental and resource economics, demography, agricultural economics, GIS and spatial econometrics and planning. Examples of suitable contributions would be new formal derivations of theoretical or methodological results, new empirical findings, replications of empirical studies using new methodological approaches, short communications on new algorithms, evaluations of spatial econometric methods and meta-analyses. As a Letters Journal, it consists of concise communications (under 10 pages in length) that provide a means of rapid and efficient dissemination. It allows readers to determine their potential interest in a letter and to digest a large amount of information rapidly. Papers exceeding 10 pages in length will be considered for publication only if, in the opinion of an Editor-in-Chief, the additional length is justified by the nature of the question being studied and/or the quality of the analysis that is undertaken. LSRS also intends to contribute to the dissemination of theories and methodologies across disciplinary borders. The only letters journal in its field, LSRS is a valuable addition to the specialists literature in offering quick dissemination and easy accessibility of new results. Each article in LSRS is reviewed by two peer reviewers in a double blind fashion and classified according to the JEL classification system. Officially cited as: Lett Spat Resour Sci
