Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA (English edition, ISSN 1000-1948) is founded in 1986 and published bimonthly. It is cosponsored by the four military medical universities of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. All of the four universities enjoy high reputation in medical science. The editorial office is in the Second Military Medical University in Shanghai.Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA publishes the most recent medical achievements of the four medical universities of the PLA and papers from aboard and all over the country in china. It mainly reports on basic medicine, clinical medicine, public health and epidemiology, military medicine, pharmacology and Traditional Chinese Medicine. And now it has readers in North America, Europe, Asia and other parts of the world.Each paper in the journal is peer-reviewed. And the originality, scientific merits, validity and practicability of each contribution will be discussed periodically at our Editorial Board meeting to decide if the paper can be published. And many published articles are sponsored by various kinds of national projects or key programs and foundations.Four academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) or Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) are the chief editors of the journal. Focusing on applied research and the development of new medical devices or instrumentation, this new journal presents papers on devices that improve diagnostic interventional and therapeutic treatments. It provides special coverage of novel devices that allow new surgical strategies, new methods of drug delivery, or possible reductions in the complexity, cost, or adverse results of health care. The Design Innovation category features papers focusing on novel devices, including some with limited clinical or engineering results. The Medical Device News section provides coverage of advances, trends, and events.

JME's mission is to provide ethical, unbiased and rapid publication of quality content that is validated by rigorous peer review. JME's aim is to serve the information needs of the pharmacoeconomics and healthcare research community, to help translate research advances into patient care and be a leader in transparency/disclosure by facilitating a collaborative and honest approach to publication. The Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology is published eight times per year and is an international, independent, multidisciplinary, journal promoting an understanding of the physiological processes underlying disease processes and the appropriate application of technology. Features include authoritative review papers, the reporting of original research, and evaluation reports on new and existing techniques and devices. Each issue of the journal contains a comprehensive information service which provides news relevant to the world of medical technology, details of new products, book reviews, and selected contents of related journals.

Journal of Medical Entomology is published bimonthly in January, March, May, July, September, and November. The journal publishes reports on all phases of medical entomology and medical acarology, including the systematics and biology of insects, acarines, and other arthropods of public health and veterinary significance. In addition to full-length research articles, the journal publishes Reviews, interpretive articles in a Forum section, Short Communications, and Letters to the Editor.

Journal of Medical Ethics is a leading international journal that reflects the whole field of medical ethics. The journal seeks to promote ethical reflection and conduct in scientific research and medical practice. It features original articles on ethical aspects of health care, as well as case conferences, book reviews, editorials, correspondence, news and notes. To ensure international relevance JME has Editorial Board members from all around the world including the US, Europe, Australasia and Far East.Subscribers to the Journal of Medical Ethics also receive Medical Humanities journal at no extra cost. Journal of Medical Genetics is a leading international publication covering original research in human genetics, including reviews of and opinion on the latest developments. Articles cover the genetic basis of human disease including germline cancer genetics, the clinical manifestations of genetic disorders, applications of molecular genetics to medical practice and the systematic evaluation of such applications. Each edition includes original articles, short reports, review articles, hypothesis articles, book reviews, online mutation reports and e-letters where readers are invited to comment on material published in the journal. With Editorial Board members from all around the world (including the US, Canada, Europe, Australasia and the Far East), JMG strives to represent and, more importantly, to participate in the shaping of trends and opinions in human genetics research worldwide.

Journal of Medical Humanities publishes original papers that reflect its enlarged focus on interdisciplinary inquiry in medicine and medical education. Such inquiry can emerge in the following ways: (1) from the medical humanities, which includes literature, history, philosophy, and bioethics as well as those areas of the social and behavioral sciences that have strong humanistic traditions: (2) from cultural studies, a multidisciplinary activity involving the humanities: women's, African-American, and other critical studies: media studies and popular culture: and sociology and anthropology, which can be used to examine medical institutions, practice and education with a special focus on relations of power: and (3) from pedagogical perspectives that elucidate what and how knowledge is made and valued in medicine, how that knowledge is expressed and transmitted, and the ideological basis of medical education.

The main purpose of Journal of Medical Hypotheses and Ideas is to remove these obstacles and provide an appropriate environment to share the huge mass of ideas of the whole medical society.

Normally in the current journals, articles that are not in accordance with the main paradigm of the medical society cannot be accepted. In Journal of Medical Hypotheses and Ideas, the editorial board is not going to edit inside the articles and change them; instead it is going to choose between the ideas and hypotheses that have been admitted to the board. In fact, the author is responsible of the ideas and hypotheses that have been expressed. As a matter of fact, all submission must pass through peer review process.

In the field of science each innovation starts with an idea, then the idea will be translated to a research protocol, and upon completing that protocol a proof of concept will be achieved. In this way an article could be published or a patent registered and the rights be assigned to the author. Journal of Medical Hypotheses and Ideas considers new or modified ideas and protocols to facilitate the process of idea sharing and innovation and also assigning some kind of right to the idea holder.

One of the intentions of Journal of Medical Hypotheses and Ideas as an international journal is to consider submissions from the global scientific community to provide a medium of communication of scientists from different parts of the world. The journal welcomes scientists from different parts of the world to share in this medium by publishing their original ideas or cooperating in editorial and review board.

The journal and the editor-in-chief of Journal of Medical Hypotheses and Ideas are members of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE; http://www.publicationethics.org) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME; http://wame.org) and European Association of Science Editors (EASE; www.ease.org.uk) and follow guidelines and recommendations of COPE, WAME, and EASE in publication.
