Welcome to the Journal Guide

If you are a researcher from Lancaster University you can search for your favourite journals or filter to get to a selection of journals that match your research topic. Select a funder to see whether the journals are compliant. Check the filter ‘Journals with Agreements’ to limit the list to journals for which the APCs are fully waived (i.e. included in our Read and Publish agreements) or discounted. If a cost is shown then click ‘Check & Apply’ to see if the Open Access team can cover costs.

Journal of Biological Rhythms

ISSN: 0748-7304eISSN: 1552-4531

Journal of Biological Rhythms primarily offers papers describing original research into all aspects of biological rhythms. Emphasis is placed on circadian and seasonal rhythms, but papers on other rhythms are also published. In addition to original research papers, the Journal publishes reviews, commentaries, editorials, letters, and other items of interest related to biological rhythms. Research in circadian, seasonal, and other biological rhythms is interdisciplinary. Authors have backgrounds in, and use the approaches of, ecology, neurobiology and behavior, psychology and psychiatry, endocrinology, developmental biology, pharmacology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and mathematical modeling. The work presented is relevant to each of these disciplines, and others. Rhythms are placed within the context of the functional significance of these rhythms for the health and well-being of relevant organisms, including humans.Every other month, the Journal presents work at the leading edge of understanding the basic nature, mechanisms, and functions underlying the generation, entrainment, and expression of biological rhythms in plants, animals, and humans.

Journal of Biological Systems

ISSN: 0218-3390eISSN: 1793-6470

The Journal of Biological Systems is published quarterly. The goal of the Journal is to promote interdisciplinary approaches in Biology and in Medicine, and the study of biological situations with a variety of tools, including mathematical and general systems methods. The Journal solicits original research papers and survey articles in areas that include (but are not limited to):*Complex systems studies; isomorphies; nonlinear dynamics; entropy; mathematical tools and systems theories with applications in Biology and Medicine.*Interdisciplinary approaches in Biology and Medicine; transfer of methods from one discipline to another; integration of biological levels, from atomic to molecular, macromolecular, cellular, and organic levels; animal biology; plant biology.*Environmental studies; relationships between individuals, populations, communities and ecosystems; bioeconomics, management of renewable resources; hierarchy theory; integration of spatial and time scales.*Evolutionary biology; co-evolutions; genetics and evolution; branching processes and phyllotaxis.*Medical systems; physiology; cardiac modeling; computer models in Medicine; cancer research; epidemiology.*Numerical simulations and computations; numerical study and analysis of biological data.*Epistemology; history of science. The journal will also publish book reviews.Manuscripts should be sent directly to the Chief Editor (rvjcm611121@yahoo.ca) or via the journal online submission at http://www.worldscinet.com/jbs/editorial/submitpaper.shtmlOnly original papers will be considered. Submission of a manuscript indicates a tacit understanding that the paper is not actively under consideration for publication with other journals. Once a paper is accepted, author are assumed to cede copyrights to their paper over to World Scientific Publishing Co.In order to better stress the biological significance and the interdisciplinary impact of the mathematical developments, those developments (e.g., the proofs of propositions) that are not absolutely necessary to follow the main line of thoughts should be placed in an Appendix and even erased when a trained mathematician can recover them, and the mathematical style of presentation, that is definition, lemma, proof, theorem, proof, corollary, proof, etc, should be relaxed as much as possibl.

Journal of Biologically Active Products from Nature

ISSN: 2231-1866eISSN: 2231-1874

Journal of Biologically Active Products from Nature ( JBAPN ) is a multidisciplinary, peer reviewed international journal devoted to the dissemination of current development and trends in the area of natural products derived from terrestrial and oceanic plants and animals and microorganisms conferring biological activities through publication of original research articles, short communications, and review papers. The Journal covers a broad scope including extraction, isolation, characterization, structure elucidation and structure-activity relationship, synthesis and transformation, including biosynthesis and biotransformation of bioactive natural products; pharmacognosy, pharmacology and toxicology (e.g. action of natural products on the structure or function in human and/or animal, cells/tissues/genes, in-vitro and invivo screening of biological and pharmacological effects); development and bioassay screening of formulations, tissue culture; biodiversity, botany and cultivation of plants with bioactive constituents.

JBAPN  encourages communication amongst the scientists, researchers, technologists, academics, industrialists, R&D institutes, planners, producers and users of natural products.

The Journal is a bimonthly publication available in both electronic and print edition.

© Nicolas Brodu. 2003 The astrolabe is an ancient astronomical computer for solving problemsrelating to time and the position of the sun and stars in the sky.Historians credit the invention of the astrolabe to classical Greece.Brass astrolabes were highly developed in the Islamic world of the 8thcentury and later. chiefly as an aid to navigation and as a way offinding the direction of Mecca. In the Middle Ages it found its wayback to Europe and became the chief navigational instrument until theinvention of the sextant in the 18th century.
