Es behandelt auch angrenzende Themen, z.B. die Verbindung zwischen Psychoanalyse und Nachbarwissenschaften, Fragen der Ausbildung, die Psychoanalyse als Beruf und Grundsatzfragen der Psychoanalyse als Wissenschaft.
