The journal Sport Sciences for Health publishes reports of experimental and clinical research on the physiology and pathophysiology of physical exercise with special focus on the mechanism through which exercise can prevent or treat chronic-degenerative disease, contributing to health maintainance in the population.Original contributions on biochemical, physiological, pathophysiological and clinical aspects of research on physical exercise in the prevention of diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, inflammation, some forms of cancer are welcome as well as studies identifying the 'dose' of physical exercise suitable for prevention and the 'dose' suitable for treatment of specific diseases, for the different sport activities.Reports are published in the form of original articles, short communications and letters to the Editor. Invited reviews and editorials are also published. Finally workshop reports are also welcome in Sport Sciences for Health.

Sports Engineering is an international journal publishing original papers on the application of engineering and science to sport. The journal intends to fill the niche area which lies between classical engineering and sports science and aims to bridge the gap between the analysis of the equipment and of the athlete. Areas of interest include the mechanics and dynamics of sport, the analysis of movement, instrumentation, equipment design, surface interaction, materials and modelling. These topics may be applied to technology in almost any sport. The journal will be of particular interest to Engineering, Physics, Mathematics and Sports Science Departments and will act as a forum where research, industry and the sports sector can exchange knowledge and innovative ideas.

This open access book focuses on the linear selection index (LSI) theory and its statistical properties. It addresses the single-stage LSI theory by assuming that economic weights are fixed and known - or fixed, but unknown - to predict the net genetic merit in the phenotypic, marker and genomic context. Further, it shows how to combine the LSI theory with the independent culling method to develop the multistage selection index theory. The final two chapters present simulation results and SAS and R codes, respectively, to estimate the parameters and make selections using some of the LSIs described. It is essential reading for plant quantitative geneticists, but is also a valuable resource for animal breeders.

The goal of Standards in Genomic Sciences is to serve as a standard-supportive publication for genome and metagenome reports that comply with the emerging MIGS/MIMS standards. It is journal policy to publish work deemed by peer reviewers to be a coherent and sound addition to scientific knowledge.

Statistical Methods and Applications (SMA) is the official Journal of the Italian Statistical Society. This international journal fosters the development of statistical methodology and its applications in biological, demographic, economic, health, physical, social, and other scientific domains. In particular, the journal emphasizes investigations of methodological foundations and methods that have broad applications. SMA includes two sections. The first is devoted to statistical methodology, publishing original contributions in all fields of statistics. In addition, this section periodically publishes critical reviews and discussions on recent developments in statistical theory and methods.
